Odd Commercial
Please watch the video, so you know what I am talking about. If you are anything like me, the commercial made you raise a brow. When I first saw this commercial, I didn't know what to think besides 'WTF' (Do I need to tell you what that means?). This is an odd commercial that is trying to sell people the Honda Scooters. I don't think anyone rides them anymore, or at least I haven't seen any. Grace Jones (Woman) is trying to get Adam Ant (Man) to get the scooter. She says its sexy, stylish, and fast. Adam is skeptical at first, not sure if the scooter is for him, but in the end Grace, talks him into buying the scooter. I have seen several commercials and alot make me go "WTF' but I believe its just a way of the company to get you interested in their product, so they make a odd, funny, or perhaps a heartwarming commercial, so you either get the product or at least think about getting it. But one other thing that did get my attention was the way Grace Jones looked like. She had short upright hair, thick make up on, faces she made, and the way she talked to Adam, I thought this was intresting because not of commercials if any have a woman dressed or looks like that any more, besides Lady Gaga, whom I don't think has done commercials. But this commercial was in the 1980's I believe and they used all kinds of actors, actresses, and singers to sell their products, the commercial above is a good example.
Bad Things Shown On Media

I know you can't really see the picture, but I will tell you what it is. This is a news paper article about the capture of Ed Gien. This is bad thing shown in media. What I mean by bad is that, its bad news, but seems to grab alot of attention, and many people seem to remember things that are bad that happened, instead of the good. For example, we all remember 9/11 but we don't remember a man, saving a family from a burning house, or maybe its just me. But what I do know, is that if there is bad news, tragic or scary, it will be shown on the front page, first thing in the news on tv, or can be seen on the internet, which ever you can get your news. But alot of times, they news will have a 'warm fuzzy' story; at the end, something such as puppies being adopted or a little kids beating cancer. But none of those things seem to stick to the human mind. We might think that its a good thing, but we usually focus on the bad, because the media have 'brainwashed' us to take more interest in the bad, and make us think about it. Before there was major issues in the world, perhaps before WWI and WWII or perhaps after, there wasn't to much going on, besides politcal, and alot of people didn't put much care in it. But now days we have politcal disasters, such as the shooting of the Senator, in Arizona. We have natural disasters such as Katrina, Haiti, and the earthquakes and tsumai in Japan. As I said several times before, we seemed more focused on the bad things, because we want to know more for it.
People Who Ruined Media For Me -Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber-

I can't stand these two people, they have ruined music for me mostly and movies as well.I will start with Justin Bieber. I didn't like him or his singing when I first heard of him. I can't explain why, he sounds like a girl when he sings, which gets under my skin. Plus I believe he's trying to be a one man boy band. But thats just me. Plus he seems more of a girl than a guy, he looks like one, with his femine features and he sounds like one when he talks and sings. I have met people that seem more of girl, then a guy, but I get along with them greatly. So I can't truly explain why I can't stand Justin, besides the reasons I have gave you now.
Favorite Actors -Johnny Depp and Robert Downy Jr-

My favorite actors would have to be Robert Downey Jr or RDJ and Johnny Depp. I have watched the several movies they have starred in. My first movie I saw RDJ was 'Weird Science' but he wasn't a main character, he was a secondary person who played the mean jock. I didn't think much of him at first, but since I began to understand movies, I saw he was a great actor and put alot of talent and effort into his job, which makes him alot of money and fans. Another movie I saw him in was called 'Fur' When I first heard of this movie, I wasn't sure how to understand it. Why make a movie about fur? But when I watched it, I was suprised about what it was about, and I loved it, it was very good, even though it was kind of confusing at first, because it moved fast and then slow, plus alot of the scenes were dark or dramatic.

Analyzing The Commercial
1. There are several monks, all wearing the same outfit, minus from the child at the beginning. They are also all bald and vary in age. If you look at their foreheads, they have a werid symbol on it, which makes no sense until the end. The setting is in a shrine or temple in china. Most of the monks are either mediatating or training the boy to be a monk.
2. There is background music, throughout the whole commercial, then you hear a knock, door opening. After you hear the door shut, all you hear is the music for several moments, until you suddenly hear and deep hum. After the hum, you hear grunting, shoating and things breaking. After that you hear a bell toll very lightly in the background, then the opening of cans, drinking, and a satisfied sigh. Then you drums rumbling, singaling something is about to happen, a scream eurpts and you hear a crunch, then the music from before comes back on, along with cheering from several voices.
3. 1) The Pepsi company created this message
2) Music in the background, there is a child involved, and alot of karate surrounding the commercial, its similiar the movie, the Karate Kid.
3) People who don't like pepsi, don't like other culture's showing off the drink, don't understand the monks karate, or don't have kids.
4) The point of view is from the child, who wants to be a monk and he goes through several trials to become one of them.
5) This message is being sent because Pepsi wants to sell their product to anyone who will watch the commercial and buy the drink
4. I am not a fan of Pepsi, but this commercial caught my attention. I thought this commerical to be cute and funny. I thought it was cute because of the young boy, leaving home and going through alot of trails to become a monk, and funny because he crushed a Pepsi can with his head, and he became one of them.

Past and Present Stand Up Comedy
Not to much has changed for Stand Up Comedy, it basically depends on the comedian. My favorites are Bill Cosby, Eddie Murphy, and Gaberiel Iglesias. Bill Cosby is one of the very few mainly clean and non swearing comedians. In the video above, this is Bill Cosby when he was young, I am not sure what year it was. But as you watch this video, it is clean but still funny. Most comedians or the ones I have heard have dirty humor, talking about sex or swearing alot, which doesn't make it funny any more, maybe its just me. The other video is my favorite modern comedian, Gabriel Iglesias. Most of his jokes surround himself or stuipd people, such drunks. Between these two comedians, not alot has changed, between them minus the fact they tell different style of jokes, most of Cosby's jokes surround his expereinces and some of Iglesais' jokes surround his experices as well but his weight. But if you listen to him, he also makes fun of people he knows, cops, family, and friends. One major thing they have in common is ethenic background, one is Latino and the other is African American. Now days you see all kinds of races doing jokes on tv, but way back when racism was huge thing, it would be hard for these two men get tv time, because of their race. So as you can see many or little has changed for comedians, it just depends on who you look at and compare and contrast them.
Past and Present Movies
Movies have been around for many many years. They started out without color and sound, Sucha s the movie above, 'Nosferatu' which means vampire. I think this was one of the first vampire movies ever made. This probably one of the best, because there is no talking and no color, making it more dramatic, not scary. Now days movies have sound and color, when something bad is going to happen, you hear scary music in the background and you wait for it to happen, some movies even have alot of blood and gore in it, to make it even scarier. But to me it makes the movie worse, because alot of movies have done this already and you're used to it. Back to the silent movie, as you watch this, several people might think of this as boring and doesn't have enough 'kick' to it. That's because we are so used to the movies today. I personally like 'Nosferatu' is a great movie to watch at night with popcorn and the lights off, to give the movie for effect.
Now for the movies we have today, I chose another 'horror' movie called the Grudge, I believe this is the japanesse version. But from what I can see from the trailer it is similar the American verison of the 'Grudge' Against the silent movie this movie may seem more scary and makes you jump, because of the sudden ghost appearing of Ju-On, and you know when she is comming beccause you hear that eeiry broken neck groan, as she comes after her next victim. I personally didn't care for the 'Grudge' it lacked something, but I am not sure what, perhaps its because Ju-On appeared so much or you knew she was comming. So movies have come from silence, minus the back ground music, and colorless, talking and full of color. I am not saying all horror movies are bad now days, I like the Child's Play movies, they are more funny than anything, but make me jump every so often.
Past and Present Computer Games
Robot Unicorn Attack
Ahh, the wonderful world of computer games. I love them! Well it depends on what kind if game it is, I like games that are challenging. Computer games have been around for a long time, not nearly as long as tv, but that doesn't matter, many things have changed since Pac Man, came around, they have become harder and more challenging, some more violent as others become family oriented. But no matter what, they are still the same, the games were created to entertain and challenge the player. One of the games that were the first ones to be on the computer was Pac Man, It's still around as well, when it first came out, it was hard to beat, but now anyone can beat it, because we have either found cheats or just kept going at the game to beat it. Pac Man is still very popular today, for me its easy, you don't have so many controls to use and the way to beat it seems very simple, get all the dots and don't get killed by the ghosts. Now enough about Pac Man. My next game is Robot Unicorn Attack, this game isn 't that much different than my other game, it requires skill and patience. Plus I find this game very addicting. The further you go in this game, the faster and faster it goes, making it nearly impossible to win, I never finished the game, I don't think there is an end, to it. To be in this game you must refrain from running into walls, and hit the star, before its to late. You have three lives, just like Pac Man. But Pac Man doesn't get faster as you go, so it's not as challenging as Robot Unicorn Attack. But another thing they have in common is that they are both very addicting, at least they are for me.

Past and Present Shows
Like my first two blogs, I am showing you the difference between new shows and old shows. My first example is 'I Love Lucy' this show was around since the 1950's to 60's. It started out in black and white, till color television became popular. I love this sitcom, I watched this show for as long as I can remeber. On this show, there was nothing sexual, drugs, swearing, or anything like we have today. This show is very funny and clean, the shows we have today have dirty humor in them. Before there was color tv, they had black and white television, this is unheard of for our generation, most of us would think its boring, but most movies that are black and white, are interesting to me. I have seen plenty of black and white shows, such as 'Andy Griffth' 'I love Jeannie' and "Bewtiched' Now days shows like 'Family Guy' have sick but funny humor in it.
Now days most, not all tv shows are not so innocent. I choose 'Family Guy' because it was the only thing I could get, in good quality. This is so wrong on so many levels, but very funny. Meg is talking about having a brief job, on a sex phone line. When you see who she was talking to, it was very bad, she was talking to her father, but I don't either of them knew it. Back when 'I Love Lucy' was on air, if they did that, they would cancel the show. Incest is not a thing to take lightly back then, but its no big deal now days. Another thing, people didn't talk about sex phone lines in the 50' s, I don't think they had them back then. So as you can see, several things has changed since tv came along, I miss the old sitcoms, they were the best.
'Family Guy' is one of my favorite TV shows. I like that it makes refences throughout the whole show. In this clip, I found very funny, but if they showed this in the 50's or 60's it would be a scandel or an uproar, it wasn't clean or censored.

Past and Present Songs
Now in the 21st century we have all kinds of music to listen to. We have, blues, new jazz, hip hop, and rock'n roll, just to name a few. Music back in the 1930's were usually very clean and were nothing like we have now. The music we have now have all kinds of innuendo in them or just have sexy girls and guys singing or dancing. Like the song below, it doesn't say anything back, but if you look at the lyrics to some he may be hinting at something, such as sex or drugs. That is nothing new for us or the music we hear everyday. I am used to it, put the older people such a parents or even grandparens do not like it, they say its vulgar.
As you can see and hear, there is so much change in music since the beginning of time, and music will never change, the music we like now, our kids might hate and we like. Our future genarations will like other music, which we hate and they like. Music used to be clean and nice, now most of our music is dirty, singing about either sex, drugs, and or has swearing in it, sadly alot the music I like, mostly because it has a nice beat and makes since for this generation's lives.
Past and Present Commercials
Now for some of the present commercials that might make you raise a brow. We have seen all kinds of commercials on th interent and on the tv. Well when I get bored, I usaully go on Youtube and watch videos, I came across this ad and had too watch it several times for it to make since. It's not in English, but I will tell you what its about so you get it. The commerical is in German or French, and they are tryng to sell orange juice, but they way that show it, makes you go...'what? I got the version that was voiced over luckily. If they showed this commercial during the 50's it would cause a riot. Many people would think is to sexual or weird to have on televison because there is talking animals. Plus at the end of the video there is a gay or homosexual scene, which many people did not approve of.
As you can see many things have changed since televison came along and if they played what they advertised back then, there would be an issue, and vise versa if we played our commercials back then. Of course not all commercials did this, not instead of smoking, we advertise drinking. I think most of the commercials we have are funny make no sense like the two above.
