Past and Present Songs

Songs and music have been around for years, long before television. But over the years it has changed dramatically. I can't say what kinds of songs there was before radio, but I have a good guess that I sure there was songs of love, hate and loneliness. The first song is from 1932, long before I was born, let alone any of the music we have today was thought of. The song is called 'Under The Moon' By Annette Hanshaw. We wouldn't think of listening to music like that now, we would probably make a face at it. But back then music like this was a hit, and if you had enough money to have a radio or go see her live, you were considered rich. Most of us don't know who Annette Hanshaw is, let alone what the old Jazz music sounds like, allot of things changed since the 1930's.

Now in the 21st century we have all kinds of music to listen to. We have, blues, new jazz, hip hop, and rock'n roll, just to name a few. Music back in the 1930's were usually very clean and were nothing like we have now. The music we have now have all kinds of innuendo in them or just have sexy girls and guys singing or dancing. Like the song below, it doesn't say anything back, but if you look at the lyrics to some he may be hinting at something, such as sex or drugs. That is nothing new for us or the music we hear everyday. I am used to it, put the older people such a parents or even grandparens do not like it, they say its vulgar.

As you can see and hear, there is so much change in music since the beginning of time, and music will never change, the music we like now, our kids might hate and we like. Our future genarations will like other music, which we hate and they like. Music used to be clean and nice, now most of our music is dirty, singing about either sex, drugs, and or has swearing in it, sadly alot the music I like, mostly because it has a nice beat and makes since for this generation's lives.

  1. Question... how can you say most of the music today is dirty? I think you may only be referring to a few genres of music. To say this you need to give more details. I would agree that music has become more risque and daring and more outspoken and unafraid.
How does music that has sex, drugs, and swearing "make sense" for your generation? That doesn't really say nice things about your generation...
